Celebrate good times, co'mon!!!! [singing, fist pumping, dancing, etc.]
It’s so great to say to people, “Yes, I just finished my first novel, blah, blah, blah--.”
But as one of my writers’ group friends wisely said, “The ‘done’ doesn’t last very long.” How prophetic! I reveled in being finished for only 7 hours. I thought I would take some time to celebrate, but, no. I finished on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 11:53 p.m., and as soon as I woke on Tuesday, I got back in the saddle.
Ever since, I’ve been handling, playing with my novel, like a knotty-haired woman plays with her long Brazilian weave.
I’ve been printing out chapters, re-arranging the order, realigning the margins, deleting chapters, re-writing chapters, refining dialog, adjusting the line-spacing and fonts (just because I want to) and all the nit-noid editing.
I love this feeling!!!
I’m also glad I can call myself an author now. Ah-hem--, a soon-to-be-published author.
Now I get to do all the things I’ve been salivating to do: #1: Promote the novel and #2: Order a t-shirt that says, “I’m an author. Ask me about my book.”
Seriously, now I'm searching for a professional editor and lining up beta readers. How exciting is this!!??
